

BRIAN WICKLUND is a renowned American fiddler, educator, and author whose influence on traditional fiddle music has shaped generations of players across the globe. His dynamic playing style and approachable teaching methods have made him among the most respected fiddlers and educators in the United States.
A native Minnesotan and Minnesota Music Hall of Fame inductee, Brian began Suzuki violin lessons at age seven. As a nine year-old, he heard the bluegrass fiddling of Paul Warren on a record by Flatt and Scruggs that changed his life. He grew up going to bluegrass jams and festivals, practiced hard, won a bunch of fiddle contests, joined bands, and ultimately chose music as a career.
He is accomplished in many different fiddle styles including bluegrass, Appalachian, Swedish and swing. His expressive style blends technical precision with heartfelt musicality. Over the years, his performances have captivated audiences nationwide, whether on concert stages, at festivals, or in intimate workshop settings. He has toured internationally playing fiddle and mandolin with bands including Stoney Lonesome, Brother Mule, Chris Stuart, and Kathy Kallick. He fronts progressive bluegrass band, Barley Jacks and performs regularly in duos with Mike Cramer and Liz Ashworth. He also is host of the Fiddle Masters Concerts.
Brian is the founder of the American Fiddle Method best-selling books and online instructional courses recognized as a groundbreaking instructional approach that has become a cornerstone for fiddle education. Brian credits his degree in elementary education as giving him the ability to make complicated concepts and skills accessible to a wide variety of students and learning styles. His American Fiddle Method books have sold over 100,000 copies and have helped thousands of students and teachers build strong foundational skills in fiddle playing while fostering creativity and confidence.
In addition to his work as an author and performer, Brian is a passionate educator who has led workshops, camps, and residencies throughout the US, UK, Canada, and Sweden. He has worked extensively with schools and community programs, helping to integrate fiddle music into music education curricula.
